What do you do with a successful TV series, seen globally? Come out with a movie of course. But the X Files have already done that in their first movie in 1998. With such success, a continuation is obvious.

The X-Files: I Want To Believe is many things all at once (police procedural, relationship drama, political commentary, horror film, romance), consistently fascinating, if never entirely successful - a movie as Frankenstein's monster.

 Warner Bros' The Dark Knight continues to power drive the North American box office and grossed a whopping $23.2 million Friday and $28.2 million Saturday from 4,366 theaters. That's down only 65% and 41% respectively from its record-smashing debut

The second "X-Files" movie's agenda is right there in its subtitle: "I Want to Believe." Still, the nature of this top-secret project should come as a surprise to most everyone.

But really, this film is about a return to the roles that made them for David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. Yeah Mitch Pileggi gets a bone thrown his way too, but that one is more for the fanboys than anything else.

Series creator Chris Carter has announced he wants to make X-Files 3 - on the condition that X-Files: I Want To Believe makes its budget back.

David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson do slip comfortably back into the roles that made them superstars in the 1990s, but the movie itself from director and "X-Files" series creator Chris Carter never feels like anything more than an extended episode.
